Is RocketDevs a good Andela alternative?
RocketDevs is a lighter-weight Andela alternative for teams that want one embedded engineer, part-time or full-time, without an enterprise procurement cycle. Andela is an enterprise talent partner that also acts as an employer of record, covering global employment, payroll, and compliance that a contractor network does not. RocketDevs publishes rates ($9.99/hr, $21.99/hr, $30.99/hr), assesses each developer for 6 to 8 hours, rejects over 98%, and admits the top 2% (1.95% in 2025), with a 14-day money-back guarantee.

Where Andela is the stronger choice
No platform wins on every count. These are the places Andela is genuinely the better call, taken from its own published material and from independent reporting, so you can weigh them yourself.
Enterprise workforce programs
Andela runs staffing and workforce transformation at enterprise scale, not just individual contractor placements.
Global employment and compliance
Andela can act as employer of record, covering payroll, benefits, immigration and HR compliance. An EOR becomes the legal employer and takes on obligations a contractor network does not. If you need people employed rather than contracted, that is Andela, not us.
AI training and transformation
Andela is investing in AI-fluent engineering and training, with a reported target of 15,000 AI-fluent technologists trained by the end of 2026.
Large historical talent reach
Andela has been building a global engineering network since its African developer training origins, and that reach runs wider than ours.
RocketDevs vs Andela: common questions
Is RocketDevs a good Andela alternative?
Yes, especially for smaller teams, as long as you do not need what Andela sells on top. Andela is an enterprise talent partner and can act as an employer of record, taking on global employment, payroll, benefits, and HR compliance. That is a different product from a contractor network, and if you need a legal employer in another country, Andela is the right call. RocketDevs is set up for a founder or engineering lead who needs one developer soon, part-time or full-time, at a rate published before the first call.
How much does RocketDevs cost compared to Andela?
RocketDevs publishes $9.99/hr Associate, $21.99/hr Mid-senior, and $30.99/hr Senior, which is roughly $1,598 a month for a full-time Associate. Andela scopes and prices per engagement rather than publishing a rate card, and third-party estimates of its rates vary so widely that they are not worth planning against. There is a second reason not to compare hourly numbers straight across: an Andela quote can include employment and compliance layers that our rate does not. Ask them for a quote and compare what each price actually buys.
How does RocketDevs vetting compare to Andela?
Both screen candidates before placement. RocketDevs spends 6 to 8 hours per developer on live coding, architecture, code review, and communication, and rejects over 98%. In 2025 we assessed 11,422 applicants and placed 223, an acceptance rate of 1.95%, inside our top 2% band. Those are our figures. Andela screens selectively but does not publish a current acceptance rate, so there is no like-for-like number to set against ours.
How much timezone overlap do RocketDevs developers give?
It depends on the developer, and that is deliberate: overlap is a profile-level fact, not a network-wide guarantee. Each profile lists working hours so you can choose for the overlap you need. Engagements are flexible, part-time or full-time, so you can size the hours to the cover you want, and time is tracked with screenshots every 3 minutes so the hours are auditable.
What if the developer is not a fit?
You have a 14-day money-back guarantee. Inside the window, take the refund or take a replacement. There is no notice period and no exit fee.
Can I hire the developer directly, and what does that cost?
You can, and the cost is a flat buyout fee by level: USD $5,000 for Level 1 Junior, USD $7,000 for Level 2 Mid-senior, and USD $9,000 for Level 3 Senior, payable within 30 days of hiring or engaging the developer outside RocketDevs. Level 3 applies if the Talent Outline Plan does not state a level. You give us prior written notice first and agree a reasonable wind-down period for the developer, which may be 30 days. The figure is capped and published rather than a percentage of salary. The cooling off period is twelve months, covering the developer's work for you plus 12 months after, or 12 months from the introduction date if you never engage them, and it applies to the individual developer introduced to you, not to our wider network. After that window no buyout fee is payable at all.
