Where Freelancer.com is the stronger choice
No platform wins on every count. These are the places Freelancer.com is genuinely the better call, taken from its own published material and from independent reporting, so you can weigh them yourself.
Large global supply
The open marketplace puts a very large global pool in front of you, far larger than any screened network can hold.
Competitive bidding
Freelancers bid against each other, so a buyer willing to run the process can push the rate down.
Flexible project formats
Hourly, fixed-price, contests and milestone-based work are all supported. We bill tracked hours against a published tier, and nothing else.
Control for hands-on buyers

RocketDevs vs Freelancer.com: common questions
Is RocketDevs a good Freelancer.com alternative?
Yes, if the bidding process is the part you want to avoid. Freelancer.com is an open marketplace: you post a project, bids come in, and the technical judgement is yours. Verification badges and ratings help, but there is no universal technical screen, so quality assurance is not standardised from one bidder to the next. RocketDevs sends you developers who already passed a 6 to 8 hour assessment, from a pool where over 98% of applicants are rejected.
How is RocketDevs different from bidding on Freelancer.com?
There is no bid. RocketDevs rates are fixed at $9.99/hr, $21.99/hr, or $30.99/hr by level, so the price is not a negotiation and the lowest bid is not the deciding factor. Freelancer.com publishes its fee schedule as well, but read it carefully: the 10% or $5 fixed-price fee and the 10% hourly fee are charged to the freelancer, not to you, and client-side charges and optional project upgrades sit in a separate list. With RocketDevs you interview a short list of assessed developers and pick one, and that developer works the hours you book, part-time or full-time.
How much does RocketDevs cost?
$9.99/hr for Associate, $21.99/hr for Mid-senior, and $30.99/hr for Senior. Full-time, an Associate comes to roughly $1,598 a month. The same rate applies to every client, and more than 500 client companies pay off that card.
How are developers vetted?
With 6 to 8 hours of assessment each, covering live coding, architecture, code review, and English communication. Over 98% of applicants are rejected. In 2025, 11,422 were assessed and 223 placed, an acceptance rate of 1.95%, within our top 2% band.
What happens if the developer is not a fit?
You get 14 days and a money-back guarantee. Refund or replacement, your choice, with no exit fee and no argument.
Can I hire the developer off the platform later?
Yes, on terms we publish rather than negotiate. You give us prior written notice, agree a reasonable wind-down period for the developer, which may be 30 days, and pay a flat buyout fee by level: USD $5,000 for Level 1 Junior, USD $7,000 for Level 2 Mid-senior, and USD $9,000 for Level 3 Senior, due within 30 days of hiring or engaging them outside RocketDevs. Level 3 applies if the Talent Outline Plan does not state a level. The figure is capped and published rather than a percentage of salary. The cooling off period is twelve months: the developer's work for you plus 12 months after, or 12 months from the introduction date if you never engage them, and it covers only the individual developer introduced to you, not our wider network. Once it expires, no buyout fee is payable at all.
